Labelcoin is the Robinhood of music – a revolutionary song exchange that lets fans invest in the next big song. Built on Web3 technology, Labelcoin is ushering in a new era for the music industry. Our mission is simple: to stamp out artistic poverty.
NEVER BEG FANS FOR MONEY AGAIN.
SPEND LESS TIME CROWDFUNDING, AND MORE TIME MAKING MUSIC.
That’s right – no second jobs, and no more instant ramen for dinner.
Welcome to Labelcoin. With our secure and innovative Song Exchange, you can invest and trade in your favorite songs and artists. Songholders (our name for people who buy portions of your song) earn royalties when the artists do. Artists, writers, venues, and playlist tastemakers earn sustainable income at the front end of their careers, stamping out artistic poverty. And that’s just the beginning.
YOUR MUCH NEEDED MONEY IS STUCK IN THE FUTURE
Bring your song’s future revenue forward to now.
THE FUTURE OF MUSIC
Crowdfunding has never been more soul-sucking - for both artists AND fans. It's time to let it go, and turn to Labelcoin.
A TEAM YOU CAN TRUST
As former musicians, we know what it's like to build an artist career from scratch. We've slept in vans, been stiffed by venues, and still found a way to make it work. We believe nobody should have to fight uphill just to make ends meet while pursuing music.
STAY IN CONTROL OF YOUR CAREER
Artists can buy back their shares at anytime at Market value from willing sellers, or through a forced buyback of 3x the current price or initial listing price.
PAVING THE WAY
We’re committed to doing it right, which is why we register every song with the SEC, undergo annual audits, and naturally, built a state of the art app from the ground up - making it easy for your fans to invest in your songs, without any prior knowledge of investing or blockchain tech.
SONG EXCHANGE
Artists can bring their future income forward by selling the digital streaming rights of their songs to Songholders. Explore the simple flow chart here:

ARTISTS
Artists assign song rights to Labelcoin, and Labelcoin pays out the artist’s initial song valuation, royalties, and trading transaction revenue.
SONGHOLDERS
Songholders buy fractions of the song rights called Notes, and can trade them for profit with other fans.
DISTRIBUTORS / PASSIVE LISTENERS
Songs are uploaded to distributors like CDBaby, Tunecore, and Distrokid who in turn collect recording royalties from listeners on Spotify, YouTube, Apple Music, and more.
EARNINGS
Labelcoin helps register songs with all rights distributors and pays back out to respective owners.

1.
Jonah decides to list 40% of the streaming royalties for New Awesome Song on the Song Exchange.
2.
Jonah decides on his listing price of $100,000 for 40% of New Awesome Song, using our proprietary song valuation algorithm as a guide. Labelcoin will issue 10,000 Notes at an initial price of $10. (Songholders can buy fractions of Notes, leaving the number of fans and investors who can own part of New Awesome Song uncapped).
3.
Labelcoin is assigned 40% of the song split by Jonah’s distributor, and New Awesome Song goes live on the Song Exchange on Jonah’s selected Listing Date.
4.
Jonah’s fans and savvy investors buy up the Notes: 1,000 Fans buy from Jonah’s YouTube video (pinned to his page), 500 Fans buy at Jonah’s shows, 500 investors purchase, and 3 Curated Collections (mutual funds) add New Awesome Song to their Collection.
5.
Songholders start earning royalties right away and can resell their Notes to others at market value after all of the Notes are sold or a 90 day vesting period is completed.
6.
Jonah keeps up to 97% of the revenue from the sale of his Notes and never misses out on royalties, because any royalties from unsold Notes go right back to him. He also earns a passive residual income of 40% from every transaction fee each time his Notes are resold.
7.
The earnings don’t stop with the Initial Note Offering! If Jonah has 10,000 Songvestors then we estimate an additional $3,150 per song/year from transaction fees alone.
8.
Boom. Jonah is now a money-making machine.
Song Exchange Example:
New Awesome Song
The Labelcoin Song Exchange is the foundation for artist wealth by seeking to bring 10 years of future income forward to the present. To explain, we’ve created this scenario where the artist, Jonah Baker, releases a new song called New Awesome Song. Hover over the tooltips in the image to see the process.
CURATED COLLECTIONS
Labelcoin’s Curated Collections are essentially mutual funds for songs. Songholders may choose to invest in a collection of songs, curated by a Label, Music Blogger, Venue, or just a music lover. Curators are rewarded with 5% of the royalties from the songs in their collection, creating revenue streams that support more segments of the industry while adding value to the Songholder.

CURATORS
Curated Collections – mutual funds for songs – are created by fund managers, or Curators they trust (such as labels, producers, venues, blog-writers, or even well-informed music fans).
CURATED COLLECTIONS
Curated Collections hold a variety of Notes from different songs that are played by passive listeners on their favorite streaming platform. The owners of these collections receive a portion of royalties from the Songholders that buy into them.
SONGHOLDERS
Songholders, or investors, buy into the Curated Collection. Songs included on the curated collection are played on streaming services by passive listeners, earning the songs’ royalties.
ROYALTIES
Royalties are then paid out to the Songholders who started the cycle as well as to the Curated Collection owner they benefited from.

Growing up in a very musical family, I fell into music naturally, and early on. I was homeschooled all the way through high school, and was blessed with two amazing parents who invested in me, and nurtured my passion for music. With not many other things that interested me as a kid, I put most of my free-time into practicing my instruments and finding my voice. With my first laptop, and guitar, my passion for performing crossed paths with a new-found interest in mixing and producing.
I started posting videos on YouTube in 2012, with just an iPhone and my bedroom. They were pretty bad! But I had fun making them.
I was so blown away and excited when I got my first 1,000 views on one of my videos. So I kept creating. Kept posting videos. I had some early supporters online who really encouraged me to keep going. And I’ve never stopped since.
Today, I continue to make music, and enjoying a simple life with my beautiful wife Celine, and our doggie Jasper. I’m so unbelievably grateful for all the supporters who watch my videos and listen to my music - giving me the opportunity to do what I love full time.

How It Works: The Initial Note Offering
Let’s say that you’re a young indie artist just getting going but already seeing 50,000 monthly listeners on Spotify with a 5 song catalogue. Your song may be valued currently at $20,000. If you list 50% of your song for $10,000, and release 5 new songs a year then you could have a base salary of $50,000/year just from your Labelcoin INO. All of that, and you still maintain 50% of your song and control over your career, not to mention an army of Songholders who want to see you succeed and will share you with their friends. After all, they make money from your streams just like you do.
Artists retain the option to buy back any sold portion of your song at any time, and still earn 100% of the royalties on unsold shares. Labelcoin doesn’t get in the way of being signed to a label or publishing deal – in fact, it increases your leverage. Additionally, artists will always retain the majority shares of your song, so you’re still in control of your tracks.
How It Works: Making Money from Transactions
How much can an artist earn AFTER the Initial Note Offering from transactions? Take a look.
For measuring purposes, this chart assumes that 90% of Songholders will buy or sell your song one time per year, and that 10% will trade up to once per month between songs. It also assumes that the average transaction fee earned is $.15/trade.
How does Labelcoin profit?
We know you’re worried about us and probably thinking, how does Labelcoin earn money? That’s so sweet of you to care. We get an equal transaction fee to you every time Notes are bought or sold! It’s a small fee to the Songholders, but really adds up for us and you.
Okay, sure, but what about...
- What if I want to sign with a label down the road and they want my catalogue?
No problem! If they REALLY want to pull the songs from Labelcoin instead of staying connected to your fans and making tons of money then they can either buy the Notes directly from Songholders or you can do a forced buy back from Songholders at 3x the current market value or INO price (whichever is higher).
- Will I have to pay royalties to Songholders myself?
No way! That would suck for everybody. When you list a song on Labelcoin, you transfer over the percentage of the song you are putting up for sale to our custody. Distributors pay us that percentage directly and we distribute it to Songholders according to their ownership percentage. You continue to earn royalties on unsold shares until they are purchased,
- What about Physical album sales, license deals, etc.?
You choose which rights to sell! At this time we only allow for digital rights on the master recordings, such as royalties from streaming and downloads, with expected near future support for publishing and composer revenue. We make it clear to Songholders what rights they are purchasing.
